CSSC Coaching Philosophy
“I believe every athlete is an individual and making time for each athlete to receive individual attention will enhance their ability to attain their goals. Providing athletes with opportunities that challenge them physically and mentally will maximize their potential to grow as skaters. Recognizing learning opportunities during training or competitions is an excellent method for skaters to learn, gain experience and broaden their understanding of speed skating and themselves.
I believe in leading by example. Leadership is an important part of motivating athletes to train and perform at their limits. Sanctifying an athlete’s self-confidence will motivate them to consistently push beyond these limits. Mutual respect and consistent communication with your skaters will help create positive training and competition experiences. In addition to the serious side of training and competing, it is imperative to have fun and enjoy the company of the people you are with and the journey you are all on together.” ~ Coach Blake

Club Head Coach, Blake Morrison
Blake Morrison, known simply as Coach Blake to our skaters, brings over 28 years of coaching experience to CSSC. He works with athletes across the Fundamentals, Developmental, and Elite groups, helping skaters grow from their first strides to reaching their highest potential.
Blake holds an NCCP Advanced Coaching Diploma and has dedicated his career to creating a positive, energetic, and supportive environment for athletes. Inspired by being surrounded by athletic and motivated people, he finds his greatest reward in watching skaters thrive within the CSSC community.
Outside the rink, Blake enjoys an active lifestyle with his wife of 37 years, Christine. Together they spend time camping, mountain biking, gardening, renovating, and relaxing at the beach. Blake also loves being a proud grandfather and sharing adventures with his grandson.
Team Sports Therapist, Jeff Kittmer
Jeff works with our Elite group, bringing a wealth of experience and specialized training to support our athletes’ health and performance. His credentials include Sport Massage Therapy, Functional Movement Technician, and Sport First Responder, equipping him with the skills to help athletes stay strong, recover effectively, and perform at their best.
Inspired by the opportunity to support athletes in reaching their potential, Jeff finds the most rewarding part of his role is observing skaters as they grow—not only as athletes but also as people. His approach blends professional care with a genuine passion for athlete development.
Outside of speed skating, Jeff enjoys wilderness canoe tripping, where he feels most at home exploring nature and the outdoors.

A fun fact about Joren—before coaching speed skating, he was a professional volleyball player!

Assistant Coach
Bradley Chambers
Bradley coaches in our Developmental group and has been coaching for one year, having completed his FUNdamentals Leader training. A proud CSSC alumnus, he was inspired to coach as a way to stay involved in the sport after competing.
