We offer three training groups tailored to different stages of development. Our programs follow Speed Skating Canada’s guidelines and the Long-Term Development in Sport and Physical Activity framework from Sport for Life, ensuring age-appropriate instruction and opportunities for every athlete.
The Fundamentals group consists of our youngest skaters. These skaters are learning the fundamentals of speed skating. They are acquiring movement skills including agility, balance, coordination and speed. The kids in this group have a lot of fun learning the fundamentals of speed skating, as many of the skills are learned through games with their teammates.
The Fundamentals group practices are on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm. Skaters can skate on one or both nights per week.
All practices are on Rink #2 at Hespeler Memorial Arena.

The Development group continues learning the fundamentals of speed skating, while also beginning to learn how to train. They learn more complex skills that build on what they have already mastered.
The Development group practices are on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm. Skaters can skate on one or both nights per week.
All practices are on Rink #2 at Hespeler Memorial Arena.

The Elite group are our older, more experienced skaters. They’re refining technique and conditioning while competing at regional and provincial meets across Ontario. Some are now advancing to National competitions and preparing to join National Training Centres as they pursue high-level speed skating.
Elite practice is on Mondays from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm. The Monday Elite practice is for the more advanced of the Elite group, hence is by invitation only.
All practices are on Rink #2 at Hespeler Memorial Arena.
