2026 Summer Training Program

Build Strength • Sharpen Technique • Have Fun • Prepare for ’26–’27

The coaches of the Cambridge Speed Skating Club would like to invite skaters to participate in the CSSC Summer Training program. The club offers several opportunities to build your fitness and improve your technique while having fun. All Summer Training programs are designed to help each skater achieve their personal best and prepare them for a strong start to the ’26-’27 season. Please read each of the opportunity descriptions and decide which option will help you achieve your goals.

Summer Ice

🚺 11 Years + | 🚹 12 Years +

📅Saturdays May 16 – August 29

🕰️ 8:30 – 10:30 AM

📍Hespeler Arena

14 sessions | The emphasis of this training is on technique and uses appropriate lap sets to re-enforce the drills allowing the coaches to identify the technical corrections.

Saturday Dryland

🚺 11 Years + | 🚹 12 Years +

📅Saturdays May 16 – August 29

🕰️ 10:30 ~ 12:15 PM

📍Hespeler Arena

Following the Summer Ice session. The emphasis is on total body work (core, upper body, legs and aerobic) using circuits and boot camp style workouts. One of the first sessions is testing. These scores are then used to help design the program to address individual skater needs and as a measure of progress over the course of the summer when they are repeated at the end of the summer program.

Mountain Biking

🚺 11 Years + | 🚹 12 Years +

🕰️ 6:00 ~ 7:15 PM

📍Puslinch Tract – Wellington County Rd. 32 at Hwy. 40

Short track speed skating and mountain biking have a lot in common: agility, acceleration, confidence and power. To start the season there will be ample opportunity to develop mountain biking skills which will be used more as the season gradually progresses. Safety is paramount and the rides are organized with someone to lead and someone to sweep at the end to ensure that no one gets left behind.

Track Dryland

🕰️ 6:00 ~ 7:15 PM

📍Jacob Hespeler Secondary School Track

The program begins with volume, transitions to imitations with volume, then moves away from volume to shorter intervals with imitations and finally short interval with speed work. These sessions are imperative for improving your cardio-vascular system and leg strength.
